We Got Us: Black Women, Black Bodies, Black Healing is a show produced by Black women in support of Black women in proclamation of our unapologetic power. A partnership between photographer Whitney Dwyer of My Post Baby Body and Coco Coalition, a non profit social enterprise dedicated to curating holistic, safe and empowering opportunities for women of the African Diaspora to connect, grow and thrive.
Through the lens of photographer Whitney Dwyer, Black Mamas: Our Bodies, Our Beauty celebrates the folds, the skin, the soft parts, the hard parts, and how we as Black mamas stretch physically and mentally to accommodate new life. It centers what is often unseen on Instagram timelines and magazine covers; the mess, the struggle, the mental hardships and the beauty of it all. It holds healing and Black mamas in their most authentic state at its center.
Coco Coalition proudly funnels their mission through three core initiatives: Mental health, feminine health, and education. Their mental health efforts are captured through community events such as the Black & Beautiful Women’s Brunch and the Coco Coalition Conference. Their feminine health efforts are expressed by supplying severely under-resourced schools in Ghana with feminine care products. Lastly, their education efforts are completed through the Coco Scholarships for college students. Imagery of their work in Ghana will be on display as well as opportunities to support their cause by purchasing Coco Coalition Black female owned products. A significant amount of the proceeds from your Coco Coalition products purchases will go directly to providing much needed feminine hygiene products to young ladies in Ghana.
